Wet 'n Wild: Comfort Zone Palette (My Thoughts)

First Impressions: Wet 'n Wild

I have finally tried Wet 'n Wild Cosmetics! HALLLELUYAHH! hahahaha I know this brand has been around for so long but hey once you try MAC you can never go back. LOL. And if you aren't satisfied with the other drugstore brands such as Covergirl, Maybelline or Revlon eyeshadows then you are definitely not going to pick up a brand that their highest priced palettes are $4.99. Pshhh that's what I thought about all the time! But after hearing so much that they are supposedly the best drugstore brand when it comes to eyeshadows I gave in and decided to by the Comfort Zone palette.

This palette has two different quads. One that is neutral and the other you have a green combination.

As with every already made palette there is always some shadows that are not as great as the rest of the others.

Hits:
Definer Brown color from the Neutral Quad is amazing! It is extremely pigmented.
Crease Copper color from the Neutral Quad is great also. Love Love the color payoff.
Browbone Silverish Color from the Green Quad is Awesome. This one kind of reminds me of Mushroom from Urban Decay but this one feel so smooth and frosty instead of rough and chunky glitter.

Miss:
Eyelid Green color from the Green Quad has little color pigmentation. I really had to layered it. I think if you put a similar color base it would pop out a lot more.
Browbone Champagne color from the neutral color is very light, I understand that a highlight color shouldn't be overpowering but this one is not so pigmented and if you rub it too much it disappears.
Definer iridescent brown/green color from the green quad is too weird of a color for me, it is not true to color once you put it on you eyelid.

The rest of the colors are in the OKAY range for me. The green quad is more of a miss in terms of pigmentation because I wasn't too happy with the color payoff. They weren't that true to color, opposed to the neutral side which was really pigmented and true to color. The formula feels very velvety smooth when you touch them, and the blending power is great. They don't stay on forever but they do last quiet a bit of time.

Overall I give them a 3.5/5. I am not a super fan of them but I am not dissing them either. I definitely think that they are way better quality then the other drugstore brands that i've tried. I can definitely see myself buying more of their products :)

L'Oreal Studio Secrets: The One Sweep Sculpting Blush Duo

One Sweep Sculpting Blush Duo: Posh Chic

Product Description:
It instantly enhances cheekbones with an instant sweep of blush and sculpting color. The unique brush applicator flawlessly applies 2 shades in a single sweeping motion.
 * Blush shade instantly enhances cheeks
 * Sculpting shade instantly contours and defines
Source: www.lorealparisusa.com

My Thoughts: I give them props for "reinventing" the purpose of a duo but in one sweep? c'mon seriously??!?! I guess so ha-ha. My first impression of this product when I opened it was disappointing because I swatched it and the pigmentation is really bad when you pick it up with your fingers. I thought it was going to be a total miss with this product but I decided to give it a second chance and actually wear it and see how it went before returning it. To my surprise it worked really well once you apply it on your cheeks. Of course I did not follow the one sweep thing, I contour first then put on the blush. I gotta say I am loving it and the pink color is perfect for my complexion. The staying power is amazing! I did my make up around 11:30sh this morning and it's now twelve hrs later and I still have it on my cheeks. I find this refreshing and AMAZING!! I had yet to find a blush that works on my skin and stay on forever and I have found it!

Now the application part is a little frustrating because you have to use a really dense brush to be able to pick up the color well. I started off with a regular angle brush but the color was not picking up. So I used a kabuki brush instead and the color picked up beautifully.
I didn't bother to use the brush that comes with the blush. It's a bad quality and really rough. Not something I want to be sweeping on my face. I recommend that you use your own brush but make sure that is really dense.

Pros: True to Color, Matte Finish and Stays on All Day (for me).

Cons: Pigmentation is not so great when picking up with a regular brush, brush is horrible (but when are they not?!?!) and the Price is too high for this smallish product.

Price: 10 and up in most drugstores.

My Rating: 4/5 just because the staying power on me is awesome!!!! :)

Haul-NUANCE by Salma Hayek

So I took a little trip to CVS today to buy some toiletries and came across the line that I was looking for. It was kind of hidden, so maybe that's why I had not been able to find it previously. I think they just started taking out the products because there were only a few in stock and not all of them were in stock. Since I was getting stuff that gave me Extra Bucks Back and had a few discount coupons, I decided to splurge a little bit.:)

Beautiful Blends Eye Quad Neutral 080: This is the packaging it comes with. It's very sleek and simple. I am really loving this quad. The colors are beautiful and the pigmentation is Amazing.

Price in store:$9.29
Price Online:$8.49
Above ^ : That is the box that the quad comes in.

<--Below: Eye Quad Packaging. So Cute!! >_<

This is how it looks when two are popped out and when all the shadows are popped out.

To the Right: Rose Petal Hydrating Balm. Really cute package but it was really small. Didn't find it worth keeping so I returned it.
Prince in Store: $7.99
Price Online: $7.29

Info: Rose Petal Hydrating Balm Evening Primrose, rich in essential fatty acids, helps condition skin and ease irritation. Shea Butter helps provide long-lasting nourishment for soft, smooth skin. Paraben free. Not tested on animals.

<--Very Small. Was kind of disappointing.
--> But the color is really pretty..the smell...uhhh not so pretty. It has a very weird smell. Didn't Like it. I didn't want to touch it since I was returning it so I can't say anything about the consistency.

<-- Brow Kit in Brown: Contains brow powder, golden highlighter and grooming wax, plus an angled brow-defining brush perfect for shaping flawless arches. Fragrance free. Paraben free. Not tested on animals.

Price In Store: $10.99
Price Online:$9.99
(Left to Right): Wax, Shimmery Highlight Cream Color and Brown Powder.

My Thoughts: The brushes it comes with suck. I threw them away. The wax feels very weird and sticky but it does the job. I don't really like the highlight color...its really hard to get out or get any product on my fingers. The powder is really nice but I think it is a little to dark for my eyebrows or maybe just gotta get used to it. haha But i think i like my Smashbox one much more than this one.

Rate: 3.5/5

All the Products -->

Oh yeah forgot about the Skin primer.

Skin Primer: I really Like this one. It reminds me of the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Face Primer But has a lot more good stuff for your skin and doesn't feel oily. Sets in fast and my face feels sooo soft.
Price in Store:$13.29
Prince Online:$11.99
Rate: 4.5/5
Info: White lupin seeds & safflower seed oil help improve skin's firmness and elasticity. Pumpkin seedcake nourishes and delivers improved radiance. Soft-light diffusion technology helps create a healthy glow. Vitamin E nourishes and protects skin. Paraben free. Fragrance free.

Overall I am satisfied with all my purchases with the exception of the Hydrating Balm and I am looking forward to trying out other products from her line. I would check things out in the store and see what you would want to try & maybe order them online since they are less expensive than in store.  :)

Salma Hayek's Nuance Cosmetic Debut

I received an e-mail from CVS a few days ago advertising a new cosmetics collection called NUANCE by Salma Hayek. I was immediately intrigued and decided to head over to CVS's website and check it out. As always I like to read info. about a product and what the inspiration behind the brand is. This collection was inspired by her grandmother, who was a trained cosmetologist in Mexico and who also passed down many beauty secrets to her. What impressed me the most is that she took off 3 years off of her entertainment career to be able to be in the labs with chemist and help/oversee everything that was put into her line of products.
Her products claim to have a unique blend of exotic ingredients such as prickly pear which is used in her body cleansing gel for moisture in the skin, mamey (fruit) used in her hair care line to strengthen and thicken locks and tepezcohuite which is in her AM/PM Anti-Aging Super Cream. All these ingredients are very common in the Latin community. So it's great to see a celebrity bring quality ingredients that have been integrated to other products in Latin America into an American based Brand. And because Hayek wanted to bring high quality products at an affordable price she partnered with CVS/pharmacy stores. It will be exclusively debuted on August 1, 2011 at all CVS stores. But they are now available at cvs.com and some big CVS stores around the country (which ones i don't really know) I am really excited to check this collection out once it hits my nearest store. The packaging is simple yet sleek and I can't get over how cute the packaging for the lip and eyeshadow quads are.
On another note, I have observed that this line of cosmetics is inclined for Medium/Olive skin tones, which to me is refreshing to see since most brands are inclined towards fair skin tones. Here is a sneak peek at what the cosmetics line will include.
